"Macaw's in Costa Rica"

"Macaws in Costa Rica"

"Great Green Macaw"
The "Scarlett Macaw" is arguably one of the most spectacular "Birds of the Neotropics".  Sadly, due to the destruction of their Environment and the "Pet Trade", their Historic Range has diminished. The Macaw's Population has declined to a remnant of what once was.    The  Macaws both Scarlett and Great Green" here in Costa Rica, are almost entirely dependent upon "Wild Almond Trees", both for Food and Nesting.  As the Rainforest's are  exploited and Old First growth Trees are removed , the Species are dwindling.  "Sharon Matola" Founder and Director of the" Belize Zoo  http://www.belizezoo.org/
The Belize Zoo  and Tropical Education Center has recently reported that Construction of a Dam, in the previously Pristine Raspacula River Basin, has  virtually condemned to extinction, what may be the Most Northerly Subspecies of the Scarlett Macaw.  "Greed in guise of Public Good".    Here in "Costa Rica" the "Great Green Macaw" faces a similar fate.  Cutting of the Mature Swamp Almond which is  necessary for their Survival.  Restoration of the Macaw's Habitat  would be a Multi-Generational Project.    The Almond Trees needed for the Species to survive are a long term Project, for they take many years to grow.
"River Forest Rest"
The Shame of the Modern World is that no one can place a monetary value on a Lost Species. Your Children will only be able to see these  Magnificent "Macaws" in a Zoo. These Birds need to LIVE WILD AND FREE.        I have dedicated my Retirement Years to Painting and Photographing  the Rainforest of Arenal Volcano, Wildlife and Habitats in "Costa Rica".   20% of all  Proceeds from Sales of my Artwork and Photographs shall be  donated to "Local Conservation Projects.    Support Wildlife and the Habitats they live in... Remember Our Children will walk in Our Footprints.. Support Wildlife and their Habitats...
